Dr. Skarshaug grew up in University Place and attended Curtis High School. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington and worked for the Boeing Company for two years before attending dental school again at the University of Washington.

He practiced dentistry on Vashon Island for 20 years where he continues to live before joining Rainier Dental. He has two children; a son, Jonathon who loves working outdoors as a carpenter and a daughter, Anna who is currently studying at the University of Washington.

When not practicing at Bonney Lake, he has been writing a book on personal empowerment which he intends to publish in the near future.
