Dr. John J. Cheng was born and raised in Seattle. After attending the University of Washington to obtain his B.S. in moleculor cell biology, he moved to the east coast to attend dental school at Boston University in which he graduated Cum Laude. After graduation, he did an advanced training residency program at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York. Although living on the east coast was wonderful experience, he missed the comforts of the Pacific Northwest such as the lush mountains, green trees and rain (yes the rain!). He has since been practicing in the area.

Dr. Cheng is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Washington State Dental Association (WSDA), Seattle King County Dental Society (SKCDS). He is actively attending continuing education courses every year and is up to date on various aspects of dentistry including esthetic and restorative dentistry, pediatrics, endodontics (root canals), and minor oral surgery. He has traveled abroad to Central America to provide dental care to underpriviledged people and is looking forward to making future trips to other areas of need.

Growing up in the Northwest, in his spare time, Dr. Cheng enjoys hiking, skiing and boating. He is also an avid sports fan on the court playing basketball and racquetball. He likes to follow all the local sports teams like the Mariners, Seahawks, the UW Husky teams and is every hopeful that one day the Sonics will move back to town.
