Cleanliness is Next to Godliness

We are occasionally asked by our patients about the sterilization protocols of our offices.  Here at Rainier Dental we pride ourselves on following very strict policies for our patient's safety as well as our own.  We follow all protocols that are suggested by the ADA (American Dental Association), CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) as well as the Washington State Department of Health.  We are subject to yearly random testing to make sure that we are meeting all health and safety standards.  Rainier Dental accurately maintains our sterilization, instruments and operatory rooms to insure everything is running properly for each and every patient.

Have you ever heard of the expression “Cleanliness is next to godliness”?  We take great care in our Sterilization Room as it is clearly labeled to ensure that there is no cross contamination between the clean instruments going out to operatories vs. the used instruments coming back in for processing.  All of our instruments are sterilized using an Autoclave or Statim with heat sensitive pouches or wraps indicating that the instruments are indeed sterile once the sterilization process is complete.  AND, our sterilizing units are tested weekly to make sure they are doing their job so we can do ours!

In our operatories, anything that is touched frequently is covered by a plastic barrier - ANY of the disposable plastics that you see in the rooms are not used multiple times - they are thrown out after one use. Rainier Dental uses approved disinfectant spray/wipes to sterilize the rooms after each use. These disinfectant wipes are effective in killing infectious germs such as  Influenza A2 Virus,HIV, Herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2, HEP B and C virus, MRSA, Staph, and spores as well as many others.

When our team is cleaning instruments and rooms we like to think, “would I want to use this on my family or myself?"  Due to our annual staff training, when our staff is in need of dental treatment, we confidently do so without worries of substandard sterilization violations.  So, you can say that we at Rainier Dental consider all of you to be like family and we always want to ensure that each and every thing being used is safe, sterile and ready for each procedure. Because we take pride in what we do, we welcome any questions that you may have about our sterilization protocols and techniques at your next visit.  We look forward to seeing you soon!
